The location for this house is a mature farm meadow bisected by a seasonal stream which is bounded by mature hardwoods lining the banks. This meadow facing west has magnificent views of a stretch of the Green Mountains from Nebraska Valley to Smugglers Notch. To join these two meadows the house is placed close to the stream edge with a portion of the house cantilevering over. The approach takes in both meadows crossing the stream over a bridge and rising to meet the house. The house projects along the slope with informal spaces including a recreation room, workout room and secondary kitchen below at a walk out to patio and yard. Above are the main living spaces including the master suite situated at the cantilever at the main level. The great room includes faces west with a large wall of glass to the mountain views. Internally this space is animated with the main stair which connects all levels and a fireplace and media element which provides separation between the living room and dining room areas. A very functional corridor between the garage and main living spaces includes a generous mud room space, laundry room, and powder room to accommodate an active family. The upper level comprises family and guest bedrooms and a small open study above the stair.
